Road Construction Update (May 11, 2018)

CITY OF FARMINGTON HILLS MAJOR ROAD PROJECTS

13 Mile Road Rehabilitation, Middlebelt Road to Inkster Road
13 Mile Road between Middlebelt and Inkster is closed to thru traffic as of April 30, 2018. A detour route has been posted. This project is scheduled to be substantially completed and open to traffic in mid to late August.
Inkster Road Rehabilitation, Northwestern Highway to 13 Mile Road
Initial work will take place with temporary shoulder closures and flag control as necessary. A full closure of Inkster Road between Northwestern Highway and 13 Mile Road is scheduled to take place May 15. A detour route will be posted that accommodates this project as well as the 13 Mile Road Project identified above. This project is scheduled to be substantially completed and open to traffic in mid to late August.
13 Mile Road Rehabilitation, Drake to Farmington
13 Mile Road will be closed to thru traffic for the duration of this project. During the first phase of the project, local access will be maintained in the westbound direction only. As such, access into the construction zone will be maintained only from Farmington Road and all traffic will exit the construction zone via Drake Road. A detour route has been posted. This project is scheduled to be substantially completed and open to traffic by September 1, 2018.

Drake Road Rehabilitation, Grand River to 11 Mile Road
This paving project is underway as of April 26. Drake Road will remain open during construction; however, it will be reduced to one lane with flag control during daytime hours as necessary.
9 Mile Road and Halsted Road Intersection
This project includes the improvement and modernization of the traffic signals, as well as pavement reconstruction with the addition of right turn lanes on all approaches of the intersection. This work will require a complete closure of the 9 Mile and Halsted intersection scheduled to start May 29. A detour route for 9 Mile Road as well as Halsted Road will be posted.
COUNTY PROJECTS
10 Mile Road Maintenance Overlay, Orchard Lake to Telegraph
Resurfacing of this roadway by the Road Commission for Oakland County is underway and nearing completion. This project includes milling the existing deteriorated pavement and paving with a new asphalt overlay. The entire project is scheduled to be completed within two weeks after the start date and will take place under flag control.
10 Mile Road Maintenance Overlay, Haggerty Road to Grand River Avenue
Resurfacing of this roadway by the Road Commission for Oakland County is underway. This project includes milling the existing deteriorated pavement and paving with a new asphalt overlay. The entire project is scheduled to be completed within two weeks after the start date and will take place under flag control.
Haggerty Road Maintenance Overlay, 10 Mile Road to Pontiac Trail
Resurfacing of this roadway by the Road Commission for Oakland County is underway. This project includes milling the existing deteriorated pavement and paving with a new asphalt overlay. The entire project is scheduled to be completed within two weeks and will take place under flag control.
Middlebelt Road, 10 Mile Road to 14 Mile Road
According to the Road Commission for Oakland County and Consumers Energy, this gas line maintenance and replacement project is scheduled continue into the fall. Work will be completed with shoulder closures, lane closures, and under flag control as necessary.
8 Mile Road Concrete Repair Project, East of Halsted Road to Farmington Road
This Wayne County concrete repair project is underway. According to Wayne County, this 1.2 mile stretch of road work is a continuation of the 2016 project that ran short on funds before all work was completed. A significant amount of the repair work is concentrated on the shared center left turn lane. Work is expected to take place under lane closures; however, one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by July 1.

MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (MDOT)
I-696 in Oakland County
This maintenance work includes concrete repair, joint repair, and flood mitigation efforts by the Michigan Department of Transportation. Nightly lane closures will be required for overnight work from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday. There will also be 10 full closures of the freeway on weekends that will occur between 9 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m.Monday morning. Detours will be posted during these closures. Updates and closure dates will be forthcoming as they are made available by MDOT.
